When the opportunity arose for the team at Xylem Water Solutions South Africa to take part in the Rotary Family Health Days beginning May, they jumped at the chance. The team hosted community members at their stand at Emthonjeni community centre in Zandspruit over three days, teaching them to avoid the spread of germs through proper hand-washing techniques.

Partnerships to save water

Typical water losses in municipalities vary between 30%-45%, mostly from ageing distribution systems and broken or leaking plumbing fixtures such as taps and toilets. To reduce these losses, the department of Water Affairs and Forestry (DWA) has set a target of a 15% reduction of municipal water use by 2015.

A new flow for KZN

A range of taps and mixers have found favour with developers and architects in KwaZulu-Natal. Cobra Watertech’s water-saving Cobratron range of electronic taps and Taryn range of taps and mixers have been specified in no less than four high-profile property makeovers recently. The cumulative value of these projects to Cobra, combined with a fifth featuring its Capstan and Xena ranges, was more than R1,7 million.
